The Festival of Buskers

The Festival of Buskers is currently on hiatus until Q4 2022. Please check back soon for updates!

Comeback Melbourne

“As part of Loving the City to Life, we’re launching The Festival of Buskers,” says Major Brendan Nottle of Project 614. “We’re inviting everyone to enjoy a free coffee and music from some of Melbourne’s street-musicians each Wednesday from noon to 2pm outside Project 614 at 69 Bourke St, and Thursdays from noon to 2pm outside Scots’ Church at 150 Collins St.”

“Because we love our city small businesses, we don’t want our excellent free flat whites to compete with local cafes, so we’ll be paying it both ways”, says Scots’ Senior Minister Rev Phil Campbell. “In other words, for each coffee we give away, we’ll be making a cash donation to nearby coffee shops. We know they’ve had a really tough year, and we want to help.”

As part of “Loving the City to Life,” The Scots’ Church is also planning to create a Community Herb Garden adjacent to the Westpac walkway, and host a free community sausage sizzle in December, while Project 614 will continue their well known community services around the CBD.

“Our churches are always here to help with practical and spiritual support,” says Rev Phil Campbell. “We don’t always get it right, but one thing Jesus taught us is that love and self sacrifice are the real key to life. At this tough time for our city, we want to do our bit to help love the city to life.”

The Buskers

On any given day, rain or shine, the streets of Melbourne has always been alive with the performances of lively buskers and street entertainers throughout several locations within Melbourne city. Busking has been an integral part of the city of Melbourne for as long as the city has been around. Scots’ Church and Project 614 would like to acknowledge that without their support and talent, our beloved city will never be the same.

Buskers, our Festival of Buskers this year has now concluded.
